What's up everybody? Mike the CPA here and Chipper, your friendly neighborhood tax expert. In today's short video, we're going to show you three easy ways to make an estimated tax payment. This is a major life skill and very important for you all to know. By the way, I hate making these payments. It means more money comes out of my pocket and I have less disposable income. Even Chipper doesn't like making them, but he gets a little worked up about it. Let's start off by showing you how to make an e-payment online. First, go to the IRS.gov website. Up here, you can see there's a section that says "Make a Payment." Click on that. It will take you to the payment page where you can pay your taxes now. You have the option to pay with a debit or credit card, but there are fees associated with that. If you have a checkbook, I highly recommend paying with a check. So, click on "Direct Pay" and you can read through the information on the page. If you want to skip straight to making the payment, click on "Make a Payment." This will bring you to the payment screen. The first thing you need to do is select "Estimated Tax" as the reason for payment. This is because we're making an estimated tax payment for the current tax year. Next, make sure the year is selected correctly for your current tax year. In this case, we are in 2018, so select that. Click continue and it will ask you to confirm that you want to make an estimated tax payment for Form 1040-ES. Click yes. Now, you need to enter some information.
