In this video, we will show you how to electronically file or efile extensions using Intuit Tax Online. Let's start by marking the return extension for electronic filing. Select the profile tab and check the for a file on the federal extension line, as well as any applicable state extensions. Now, select automatic extension on the input return tab. Click on the section for payments, penalties, and extensions, and then choose the extension section in the expanded view to activate the 4868 for this return. Enter a 1 in the first field under automatic extensions. To print a blank form 4868 with only the taxpayers identifying information at the top, enter a 2 in two attacks online automatically carries the total tax liability and payments shown on form 1040 to form 4868. To report a different liability or payment amount on form 4868 only, simply enter the new totals in the automatic extension override fields. To activate the 2350 for taxpayers living abroad, enter a 1 in the first field under the extension for taxpayers abroad and complete the remaining entries before filing. Visit the check return tab to resolve any critical diagnostics for the first extensions note that these must be corrected beforehand. Finally, to submit the extension, select the file return tab and choose efile extension. The extensions for each return are pre-selected under select tax returns to e-file.
